Earning a Coach Month: 30 extra trial days per fellow coach

Your trial is running out and you haven't made up your mind. Next to Coach and Club there is a third option: a Coach Month. Refer a fellow coach and your trial runs on for another thirty days. This article explains where that card sits, when the month is awarded and what deliberately falls outside it.

Reading time: 4 min

Where the card sits

On the paywall — the screen that appears the moment your trial has run out — the card Earn a free Coach Month sits below the Coach and Club subscriptions. It shows for as long as your status is trial; anyone who is paying, or who has paid at some point, doesn't see it.

The same card sits in your settings under the heading Coach Months, below your subscription card. There too you need a trial of your own: if you ride along as a second coach on the team owner's paid subscription, there is nothing to extend and the card stays away. Players and parents never get to see it at all — they have no subscription and therefore no trial.

Sharing your invite link

The card carries your own link, with a six-character code in it. That code has no 0, O, 1 or I in it, so there is nothing to mix up when somebody types it over. The Share my invite link button passes it on through your phone's share menu; if that isn't available, the app puts the link on your clipboard and reports “Link copied”.

Note that this is a different link from the team invite you use to connect players, parents or a second coach to your own team. That link puts somebody in your team; this one lets a colleague create their own coach account, with their own team.

The subscription in the settings of the Koach app: trial period and subscription choice
Your trial lives in the settings — and for as long as it runs, the Coach Months card sits underneath it.

When the month is awarded

A Coach Month is only credited once the referred coach has confirmed their email address. Clicking the link earns you nothing yet, and neither does a half-finished registration. Until then the card says that somebody is “still awaiting confirmation”.

Just happened? On the paywall, below the share button, sits Just referred someone? Refresh; that fetches the status again, so a month you just earned reopens the app straight away. In your profile that button isn't there — you only have to open the screen again.

Every confirmed coach is another 30 days. It stacks: three colleagues is three months. If your trial is still running, the days go behind the existing end date; if it had already expired, it counts from today.

The counters on the card

The paywall shows three counters: Signed up (everyone who signed up through your link), Confirmed (whose account has been confirmed) and Coach Months (what that has earned you in months). In your profile a fourth is added: Days left, the number of trial days you have now.

What deliberately falls outside it

Share it with somebody who still has to start. The arrangement is meant for a coach who isn't using Koach yet: they create their own account and set up their own team — see getting started with Koach. A colleague who has been working in it for months is good company, but earns you no month.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a referred coach earn me?

30 extra trial days for every colleague who creates a new coach account and confirms it. It stacks: three coaches is three months.

When is the Coach Month awarded?

Only once the referred coach has confirmed their email address — not when they click the link. Until then the card says somebody is awaiting confirmation. On the paywall you fetch the status with 'Just referred someone? Refresh'.

I ride along on my head coach's subscription — why don't I see the card?

Because you have no trial of your own to extend. The card only appears on an account whose status is trial; anyone riding along on a paid subscription doesn't see it. Players and parents never do.

Does a Coach Month work if I already pay?

No. A Coach Month extends a trial and nothing else; it is not a discount on a running subscription. A subscription that has expired or been cancelled won't open with it either.

Do players and parents I invite count as well?

No, only a new coach account counts. Players, parents and fellow coaches are invited with a different link anyway: that one connects somebody to your team, while the Coach Months link produces an account of their own.
