Practice Pro Volleyball app alternative: practice and match day
The short answer
Practice Pro Volleyball is an English-language app for iPhone and iPad that helps you plan and run practices, with 300+ drills, timers and attendance. The download is free and Premium is an in-app purchase. Its App Store page doesn't mention live scoring, lineups or player accounts. Koach has all three, free for 14 days.
You're looking into the Practice Pro Volleyball app, or for an alternative to it. Practice Pro is a practice planner: strong on drills and on running your session. Here's what the app does and costs according to the App Store, what it leaves out, and when Koach, an app for both your practices and your matches, is the better fit.
Checked in October 2026 against the Practice Pro Volleyball page in the US App Store. We make Koach, so read this as a comparison written by the maker of one of the two apps. That's also why it covers what Practice Pro does better, and who it's the better choice for.
What is the Practice Pro Volleyball app?
Practice Pro Volleyball is an app by developer Aaron McDonald that has been in the App Store since the fall of 2025; the latest update is from September 17, 2026. It's built around one job: better practices, planned faster. According to the description and the version history, you can use it to:
- Find drills. A library of more than 300 drills from college and pro volleyball coaches that you can search and filter. You can add your own drills, or the link to a drill you spotted on social media.
- Plan practices. You build a plan for your team, save a practice that worked as a template, look up past practices and share a practice with other coaches. Upcoming practices sit in a built-in schedule, and since December 2025 you can add them to your calendar too.
- Run the practice. You run the session from the app. Built-in timers keep you on schedule, and the app shows which drill is next and when to move on. Since July 2026 that also works on Apple Watch, something Koach does not have.
- Print. You can export a practice as a clean, printable practice sheet.
- Get a suggested plan. Since March 2026 there's a Smart Practice Planner which, according to the description, builds a practice plan suited to what your team needs in a few seconds. The version history mentions AI here; Koach has no AI and doesn't build practices for you.
- Track attendance and practice stats. Since late August 2026 you can record who was at practice, who was missing, who had an excused absence and who was late. The stats show how often you use drills per skill, so you can see what your practices emphasize.
According to the App Store, Practice Pro runs on iPhone and iPad, with a watch app included, and it's available in English only.
Where Practice Pro is stronger than Koach
When it comes to preparing and running a practice, Practice Pro goes further than Koach on a few points:
- More drills. More than 300, versus 200 in Koach. Koach drills play back phase by phase as animations; for Practice Pro, the version history mentions photos with the drills.
- Timers that walk you through practice. Practice Pro keeps you on schedule during practice, on your wrist too; Koach has no watch app and no timer during practice.
- A practice on paper. If you like your plan printed out on the sideline, Practice Pro exports a printable practice sheet. Koach has no PDF export: your practice lives in the app, on the device of every coach on the team.
- A planner that thinks along. The app gets a plan ready for you. In Koach you put the practice together yourself from blocks and drills.
Both apps are fairly new to the App Store (Practice Pro since the fall of 2025, Koach since July 2026), and almost every Practice Pro update is about practice. That's the app's strength, and also where it stops.
What the App Store page doesn't mention
Everything in the description and the version history is about practice: drills, plans, timers, a schedule and attendance. What isn't there:
- Match day. No live scoring, no points per player and no match stats. The stats the page mentions are about drill usage per skill, not about matches.
- Lineups and rotations. No system of play, no rotations and no libero.
- Players and parents. The coach tracks attendance. Accounts for players or parents, or players who RSVP themselves ahead of time, aren't listed.
- Android and other languages. The page lists Apple devices only, and English only.
The same developer does have separate apps in the App Store for lineups (Practice Pro Rotations) and for match stats (VolleyStats by Practice Pro). We haven't tested what exactly they do or whether they work with the practice app. If you already handle matches and your team some other way, a standalone practice planner may be all you need. If you want everything in one app, that's where Koach is different.
How you plan a practice in Koach
In Koach, practices live on the Training tab. You fill in the Training focus and build the Program out of blocks, each with a name, a duration and a description. You fill it in with Add training block and Add exercise, and the app adds up the minutes. Save a practice that worked with Save as template, and use Copy plan to bring back a template or an earlier practice. In a club you can also copy other teams' templates. What to look for in a practice app in general is covered in our guide to volleyball practice apps.
14 days free, no credit card. Put your next practice in tonight and see after a week whether having practice and team in one place saves you work.
Plan your practice in KoachThe drill library holds 200 Koach drills, each animated phase by phase. You search and filter by category, and Sort by present players puts the drills that fit tonight's headcount first. Draw your own drill with New exercise, and turn an existing one into your own version with Make variation. With Assign as homework you give players a drill to work on at home. How to build your own library this way is covered in our guide to volleyball drill apps.
Afterwards, under After the session, you record how it went: Done, Partly done or Not done per block, a short report and the Focus for the next session. If you like, you rate each player who was there from one to five stars on technique, game awareness, coachability, work ethic and effort. That way the next practice picks up where the last one left off.
Attendance, lineups and match day in the same app
Both apps have attendance, but it works differently. In Practice Pro the coach records who was there. In Koach, players, or parents for their child, RSVP ahead of time with I'm coming or Can't make it, with a reason if they want. At practice you tap Present, Late or Absent for each player, or choose All present. Each player's attendance adds itself up over the season.
Then comes the match, and that's where a practice planner stops. In Koach you set your lineup in a 5-1, 4-2 or 6-2, see how your team rotates with View all 6 rotations, and let the libero come in on their own with Swap libero automatically. During the match, after every point you pick the player under Who scored the point? and then how: attack, block, serve or an opponent error. After the match, points and errors per player are ready. How that works on the sideline is covered in tracking a volleyball match live.
Players and parents get their own free account with the schedule and their RSVPs. Your practices, attendance and match stats sit together, so in one app you can put what you worked on Tuesday next to what happened in Saturday's match.

What does the Practice Pro Volleyball app cost, and what does Koach cost?
Practice Pro is free to download. The US App Store lists four in-app purchases: Premium for $6.99 and $34.99, and Practice Pro Premium for $8.99 and $44.99. What you get for which amount, and for what period, isn't stated on the page; check before you pay. Also keep an eye on the drills: according to the version history, without Premium you see a limited, rotating selection of the premium drills. How many of the 300+ you get for free isn't stated.
You can try Koach free for 14 days, with no credit card and every feature. After that you choose Coach for €2.99 per month (one team, two coaches) or Club for €9.99 per month (unlimited teams and coaches). With a yearly plan that's €2.49 or €8.33 per month. Players and parents use Koach for free. The prices are on the pricing page; in the App Store and Google Play you see the price in your own currency. What each plan includes is explained in what Koach costs.
Putting the amounts side by side doesn't tell you much: they're in different currencies, the Premium term isn't stated, and you're paying for different things. With Practice Pro you buy a tool for your practices; with Koach, an app your whole team is in.
Which app is right for you?
Choose Practice Pro Volleyball if what you mainly want is help preparing and running practices. You want lots of drills, you like having a plan suggested, you walk the gym with a timer on your wrist, or you prefer your practice printed out. You coach from an iPhone or iPad, and you already handle matches and your team somewhere else.
Choose Koach if you want practice and match day in one app: practices built from blocks with 200 animated drills, attendance where players RSVP themselves, your lineup with rotations, live scoring with stats per player, and players and parents on board. Koach works on iPhone, iPad, Android and in the browser, in six languages. What to look for in any app is in our checklist for the best volleyball app for coaches. If you mainly want as many drills as possible, also read the trade-off between a drill platform and a team app.
Test it with one real week. Put the same practice in both apps and see what happens next: did you know beforehand who was coming, who actually showed up, and where do you track this weekend's match? Practice Pro is a free download; Koach is free to try for 14 days with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Practice Pro Volleyball app free?
The download is free, but not everything is free to use. The US App Store lists four in-app purchases: Premium for $6.99 and $34.99, and Practice Pro Premium for $8.99 and $44.99 (checked in October 2026). The page doesn't say what period those amounts cover, and according to the version history, without Premium you only see part of the premium drills. Koach is free to try for 14 days with no credit card; after that Coach costs €2.99 per month and Club €9.99 per month.
Does Practice Pro Volleyball do live scoring or match stats?
The App Store page doesn't mention live scoring or match stats. The stats in Practice Pro are about your practices: how often you use drills per skill. The same developer does have a separate app for match stats, VolleyStats by Practice Pro, which we haven't tested. In Koach you pick who won each point and how during the match, and afterwards points and errors per player are ready.
Does Practice Pro Volleyball track attendance?
Yes. Since the August 28, 2026 update, the coach can record who was at practice, who was missing, who had an excused absence and who was late. In Koach, players and parents also RSVP themselves ahead of time, with a reason if they want, and at practice you mark each player present, late or absent.
Is Practice Pro Volleyball available on Android?
The App Store page lists iPhone, iPad and the watch, with English as the only language. It doesn't mention an Android version. Koach works with one account on iPhone, iPad, Android and in the browser, and comes in six languages.
Can I use Practice Pro Volleyball and Koach together?
Yes. You can prepare your practices in Practice Pro and keep your team, attendance and matches in Koach. You'll then have two places for your practices, though. If most of your work is about matches and your group, one app is usually simpler: put your go-to drills in Koach as well.
