The drills

We are building the collection out step by step. New drills show up here as soon as they are ready — in the app all 200 of them are waiting already.

How to pick a drill that fits

Start with the number of players in the gym

Most practices fall apart over simple arithmetic: a drill for twelve players does not work with seven, and there you are, improvising on the court. So look at your numbers first. Every drill states up front how many players it needs and how many phases it runs.

Pick one thing per practice

A practice with three learning goals delivers three half improvements. Take one theme — passing, serving, blocking — and build two or three drills around it that step up in difficulty. The rest of the session can be familiar material; repetition is not the same as wasted time.

Build up from calm to pressure

Start with a form where the technique is the point and the ball arrives predictably. Then add a decision, then time pressure, and finish with a match-play form where a mistake actually costs something. Open with a match-play form and you mostly train what your players can already do.

Never let a drill outlast the attention span

Fifteen minutes per form is the ceiling for most youth teams. If it is going well, stop on a high and bring it back next week. If it is not, the drill is too hard — take the "easier" variation from the drill page.
