Forearm passing gauntlet (8)

Four tossers in a row and one passer who slides along and handles four balls back to back. Because the ball comes from a different angle every time and there is no rest in between, this car wash shows within twenty seconds who uses their feet and who only uses their arms.

How the drill runs

What you are training

Classic passing drill: one passer moves along four tossers, handles four balls in a row and then rejoins at the back.

Coaching points

Pass back to your tosser's chest.

A tosser who has to reach throws the next ball more sloppily, and then the whole line is off inside one round.

Slide sideways, do not turn around.

A passer who spins to face each new tosser arrives with the shoulders wrong and pushes the ball wide.

Tossers: only throw once the passer has stopped and is looking at you.

This drill speeds itself up. The tempo belongs to the tosser, not to the passer.

The last ball as clean as the first.

The fourth ball is the one you are here for: passing on tired legs is exactly what the end of a set asks of you.

Variations

Easier
Three tossers instead of four, and the ball is thrown high and straight at the passer.
Harder
The tossers alternate short and deep, or they hit the ball at the passer instead of throwing it.
With six players
Three tossers and three passers: one is always in the line and two are waiting.
As a game
Three rounds per passer. Each round counts the balls the tosser can catch without taking a step, so twelve points at most.
