Player of the Match: let your team vote after the game
The top scorer shows up in the statistics every week by default. But the libero who dug three impossible balls, or the substitute who turned the fourth set around? Only your team sees that. The Player of the Match vote hands that verdict to the people best placed to give it: the players themselves.
How the vote works
As soon as a match is played, the Player of the Match block opens in the match detail. Every player with a linked account casts one vote there for a teammate who was present at the match. Voting closes 48 hours after the match; the winner gets a crown on the match and a counter on the player profile: ๐ Player of the Match รN.
The ground rules โ and why they are what they are
- Only players vote, not the coach. It is the verdict of the locker room, not of the staff โ that is what makes the title credible to the team.
- Not for yourself. Goes without saying, and the app simply enforces it.
- One vote, final. No strategic switching halfway through; voting means choosing.
- Standings only after your own vote. That way everyone votes on their own judgment instead of following the crowd. The coach does see the breakdown right away โ they do not vote, after all.
- A tie means shared winners. Two crowns are no problem; a shared title is still a title.
Why this works for your team culture
Statistics reward what is measurable โ and that favours attackers. A vote rewards what the team saw: the pass that saved the rally, the block at exactly the right moment, the energy from the bench. Precisely the players whose work never shows up in the top scorer list get their recognition this way. And because the verdict comes from the team itself, it carries more weight than a compliment from the coach.
How to get the most out of it as a coach
Mention the winner briefly in the match review or at the start of the next practice โ thirty seconds, big effect. Look at the vote breakdown yourself too: if the team keeps pointing at someone other than your statistics do, that says something about what you cannot see from the sideline. And let the profile counter do its work: "ร4" on your libero's profile tells a story at the end of the season that no points list can tell.
Let the vote start the conversation, not end it. Feel free to ask in the team chat whรณ has voted โ but never who they voted for. The secrecy of the ballot keeps the outcome honest and the atmosphere good.
Frequently asked questions
Who can vote for the Player of the Match?
Only team members with a player account linked to the team. The coach deliberately does not vote: it is the locker room's award. Voting is open until 48 hours after the match date.
Can a player vote for themselves or change their vote?
No, neither. You vote for a teammate who was present at the match, and the vote is final โ that keeps the vote honest and prevents strategic shuffling.
What happens in the event of a tie?
Then there are shared winners: both players get the crown on the match and both count the win on their profile.
Where do I see how often a player has been Player of the Match?
The player profile shows a counter (๐ Player of the Match รN) that automatically adds up all closed votes of the season.
