How much does Spond cost?

Spond does not charge a subscription. The app is free in the App Store and on Google Play, and on its help page about payment costs Spond writes that it is a free platform and only makes money when clubs and groups run their payments through Spond (checked in October 2026). Those payments go through Stripe, a payment company.

According to that page, the standard fee is $1.00 plus 3.29% per product in the United States, £0.20 plus 2.5% in the United Kingdom and €0.20 plus 2.5% in the eurozone; the page also lists rates for Canada, Australia and other countries. The fee is per product selected, not per payment: if one request asks for dues and a team jersey and the member picks both, the fee is charged twice. In the US, $100 in dues costs $1.00 plus $3.29, so $4.29 in total; in the UK, £100 costs £0.20 plus £2.50, so £2.70. By default the group covers the fee, so $95.71 or £97.30 comes in. You can also set it so the member pays the fee; then a surcharge is added on top and the club receives the full amount.

So if you only use Spond for the schedule and attendance, you pay Spond nothing. The costs only come into play when your treasurer uses it to collect dues, camp fees or other payments.

What do Teamy, SportEasy, Heja and TeamSnap cost?

All four are free to download and free to start. The difference is in what you get for free and what an upgrade costs. We took the amounts from each app's own pricing page in October 2026; where that page gives no amount, we say where the figure comes from instead.

What to look for when you compare team app prices

How do free team apps make money?

Running a team app costs money: servers, storage, the Apple and Google stores, and people who maintain the app. That bill ends up somewhere. The apps in this comparison use three ways to cover it.

  1. Ads. For Teamy, SportEasy, Heja and TeamSnap, Google Play says the app contains ads. Paying users see fewer of them or none at all. Your players and their parents, who use the app for free, still see them.
  2. Payments. Spond makes money on every payment that runs through the app. For a club that collects money anyway, that can be convenient; for a team that never collects anything, Spond is free.
  3. A subscription. The coach, the team or the club pays a fixed amount. That is the choice Koach made: there are no ads in the app, and Koach makes nothing on the money your club collects. In the interview on what a team app costs, the maker explains why he chose a subscription.

Koach: the coach or club pays, players and parents don't

Koach is an app for volleyball coaches and has no free version: you try it free for 14 days, with no credit card and every feature, and then choose a plan. For that money you get an app that knows volleyball: a lineup with rotations and the libero, live scoring per player, practices with attendance, and stats across the season.

The website lists these prices in euros; in the App Store and on Google Play you pay the store's price, in your own currency. All amounts are on the pricing page, and how the trial and switching plans work is explained in our guide to what Koach costs.

What do your players get for nothing? Their own account where they sign up for practices and matches or say they can't make it, with Sign up for all sessions to join the whole series in one tap. On their dashboard they see Your attendance, Your performances with their points from attack, block and serve, the team's Match statistics and the Next training.

What you don't get with Koach

What Koach does not do belongs in an honest price comparison. You cannot collect dues or camp fees with it: with Club you track under Contributions who still owes something and share your own payment link, but the money does not go through Koach. There is no chat either: there are announcements, polls and tasks that a player or parent answers with I’ll do it.

Which team app fits your team and budget?

They don't rule each other out either: you can keep a general team app for the whole group and use a volleyball app for the coaching. How those kinds of apps relate to each other is covered in the overview of sports team apps for volleyball.

Compare per team per season. Teamy quotes yearly prices, SportEasy and Koach monthly prices with a yearly discount, and Spond charges per paid product. Convert everything to one amount per team per season, and add the transaction fees on whatever your club collects. Only then are you really comparing.

Frequently asked questions

Who pays the transaction fee on Spond?

By default the group does: the member pays the amount requested and the club receives that amount minus the fee. You can also choose to have the member cover it; then a surcharge is added on top and the club gets the full amount. According to Spond, the standard rate is $1.00 plus 3.29% per product in the US and £0.20 plus 2.5% in the UK, and it applies to each product selected, not to each payment.

How much does SportEasy cost per month?

According to its own pricing page, SportEasy Premium costs €9.99 a month, or the equivalent of €5.75 a month on a yearly plan. For that you get unlimited members, team and player stats, live stats, an attendance overview and task management, without regular ads. The free Basic option is limited to 30 members. A new team can try Premium free for a month first.

Which team app is actually free?

Every app in this comparison is free to download; the question is who picks up the bill. With Spond, it is the payments you run through the app. For Teamy, SportEasy, Heja and TeamSnap, Google Play says the app contains ads, and extra features cost a subscription or an in-app purchase. Koach has no free version: after the 14-day trial you choose Coach or Club, and players and parents pay nothing.

How much does Koach cost after the free trial?

You choose Coach for €2.99 a month (one team, two coaches) or Club for €9.99 a month (unlimited teams and coaches). With a yearly plan you pay €2.49 or €8.33 a month. In the App Store and on Google Play you pay the store's price in your own currency. You can cancel a monthly plan month to month, with no notice period, and what you have built up does not disappear the moment you stop. More in our guide to what Koach costs.

Do players and parents pay for Koach?

No. Players and parents get their own account in the app or in the browser and pay nothing; only the coach or the club pays for the plan. A second coach on a team with the Coach plan does not pay either. Players sign up for sessions or say they can't make it and see their own attendance and stats, and parents sign their child up or out and see the schedule.
