Teamy alternative for volleyball: organising versus volleyball-smart coaching
Teamy is a popular Dutch app for all team sports — strong at attendance, planning and even the team fund. But 'all team sports' also means: not volleyball-specific. Here is how to decide whether you need something that knows the sport.
Where Teamy is strong
Honestly: Teamy does the organising well. Tracking attendance, planning matches and practices, importing the league schedule, dividing tasks and managing the team fund — it is all in there, free, in Dutch. For the organisational side of a team it is a solid choice.
Where it stops for volleyball
Teamy is built for every team sport, and you notice as soon as it is about the sport itself. The lineup is a generic drag-the-players tool — it knows no 5-1 or 4-2, no rotation and no libero. The statistics are whatever you make of them yourself, not volleyball live scoring with attack/block/serve and automatic rotation.
| What you want | Teamy | Koach |
|---|---|---|
| Attendance + planning | Yes | Yes |
| Import match schedule | Yes | Yes (Dutch teams, from your Nevobo pool) |
| Team fund / finances | Yes | — |
| Lineup 5-1/4-2 + rotation + libero | Generic | Yes |
| Live scoring with point types | — | Yes |
| Player development across the season | — | Yes |
The trade-off (and they can work together)
For Dutch teams, one reason to keep Teamy alongside has fallen away: the match schedule. Link your Nevobo pool to Koach — possible when you use the app in Dutch — and you import the whole schedule in one go. New matches are added, rescheduled dates are updated, and matches you already planned yourself are recognised instead of duplicated. You first see what is about to happen and only then confirm.
Mainly after organising — attendance, planning, team fund? Then Teamy is strong and there is no need to switch. Want the coaching side — lineup with rotation, live scoring, development? Then you are looking for a volleyball-specific alternative like Koach. And it does not have to be either-or: some teams keep Teamy for the organisation and use Koach for the match. See the broader overview.
Look at your match day. Teamy handles the week around it; the question is what you do courtside. If you want scoring, rotation and statistics there, you want volleyball-smart tools.
Frequently asked questions
Is Koach a replacement for Teamy?
For the coaching side, yes: lineup with rotation, live scoring and development. Koach imports the match schedule as well, but only for Dutch teams with a linked Nevobo pool. That leaves the team fund as Teamy's own — which is why some teams use both.
Can Koach do attendance and planning too?
Yes — calendar and attendance are in there, plus the volleyball-specific features Teamy does not have. Only a team fund is something Koach does not have (yet).
Are both Dutch and free?
Both are Dutch-language and free to start. Koach focuses on volleyball; Teamy on all team sports.
