What VolleyballXL is
VolleyballXL is an online platform for volleyball coaches: a drill library, tools to put practices together and background knowledge about coaching. According to its own site it has more than 800 drills on video, for indoor and beach, with new drills added regularly, and it is used by more than 400 clubs and colleges. The site is available in a dozen languages.
You use it in the browser on a desktop, tablet or phone. There is an Android app in Google Play. For iPhone and iPad, VolleyballXL says the site is optimized to run in the browser; we found no VolleyballXL app in the US App Store.
What VolleyballXL does better than Koach
On drills and practice preparation, VolleyballXL goes further than Koach:
- Much more drill material. 800+ drills on video. Koach ships with 200+ drills with animated phases instead of video.
- A practice plan generator. You set your goal and the platform puts a complete practice together. Koach does not generate practices: you build them from drills yourself or reuse a practice template.
- Pre-built practice plans. Complete practices ready to run, so you do not start from a blank page.
- Coaching education. Academy videos that explain techniques and methods step by step, plus a knowledge base for coaches.
Put simply: if your main question is "what are we running tonight?", VolleyballXL gives you more to choose from than Koach.
Where Koach is different
VolleyballXL is about the practice. Its features page lists nothing for match day or the team around it: no live scoring, no lineups or rotations, no attendance and no parent accounts. That is where Koach sits:
- Live scoring. You record per point who scored and how during the match, and have stats per player afterwards.
- Lineups and rotations. You build your lineup in a 5-1, 4-2 or 6-2 and see all six rotations, including the libero.
- Attendance. You track attendance per practice in one tap, and the season overview adds itself up.
- Parents. You invite parents per player; they get their own parent account with the dashboard and the calendar, so you stop forwarding everything by hand.
Practices are in Koach too, with less material: you build your practice from blocks using the included drills or your own drills, and every coach on the team works from the same library.

Who VolleyballXL is the better choice for
Choose VolleyballXL if you mainly want help preparing practices: new drills every week, a practice generated for you, or complete practice plans you can run as they are. That suits new coaches and clubs that want all their coaches working from the same drill material. If you already handle matches, lineups and attendance another way, VolleyballXL on its own may be all you need.
Who Koach is the better choice for
