TeamSnap alternative for volleyball coaches

Short answer: TeamSnap is a general team app for every sport, strong at schedules, messaging, availability and payments. Koach is built only for volleyball: lineups with rotations, live scoring with stats per player and practice planning, next to attendance and a team calendar. If you mainly need to organise families and fees, TeamSnap is hard to beat. If you want help with the volleyball itself, a volleyball app fits better.

We make Koach. So read this as a comparison written by the maker of one of the two apps, which is exactly why the sections below spell out where TeamSnap does it better. The official information is at TeamSnap's volleyball page.

What TeamSnap is

TeamSnap is a team management app for youth and adult sports, with a web version and apps for iPhone and Android. The TeamSnap app has almost 60,000 ratings in the US App Store and is available in English, French and Spanish. On its volleyball page TeamSnap highlights schedules that sync with Google or iCal, team chat and last-minute alerts, volunteer assignments and signups, and volleyball drills and practice plans. Its pricing page adds free built-in live streaming, and clubs and leagues get a separate product, TeamSnap ONE.

What TeamSnap costs

For a single team there is a Free plan with scheduling, messaging, assignments and payments for rosters under 15 players. Premium costs from $10.83 a month billed annually and adds availability and RSVP tracking, skill-building drills and practice plans, and an ad-free experience for the team owner and managers. Ultra costs from $13.75 a month billed annually and adds unlimited roster spots. New teams get a free trial. Prices checked in September 2026.

Where TeamSnap does it better

What a volleyball coach runs into

TeamSnap is built for every sport, and its volleyball page lists no lineups with rotations, no libero tracking and no live volleyball stats. That is exactly the part of the week where a volleyball coach needs help: setting up a 5-1, 4-2 or 6-2, knowing who serves next, tracking substitutions and the libero, and recording who scored and how.

Who TeamSnap is the better choice for

Choose TeamSnap if your biggest job is organising people: a club or school team with lots of parents, fees to collect, volunteers to schedule, or several sports under one roof. If your coaching already runs on paper or in another tool and you want logistics sorted, TeamSnap does that very well.

Who Koach is the better choice for

Choose Koach if you want the app to help with the volleyball: lineups and rotations, live stats per player, practices with drills, attendance and player development, with players and parents on free accounts. Koach is young, in the App Store since July 2026, so test it with your own team: it is free for 14 days without a credit card, and the plans are on the pricing page.

They can also work together: TeamSnap for the family logistics and fees, Koach for the coaching. More options side by side are in the best volleyball apps for coaches, and similar trade-offs in SportEasy alternative and Spond alternative.

Look at your Saturday. If the stress is about who is driving and who has paid, a general team app solves it. If the stress is about the rotation after a time-out, you need an app that knows volleyball.

Frequently asked questions

Does TeamSnap work for volleyball?

Yes, as a general team app: schedules, messaging, availability, payments, and volleyball drills and practice plans in the paid plans. Its volleyball page does not list lineups with rotations, libero tracking or live volleyball stats.

Is TeamSnap free?

TeamSnap has a Free plan for small teams with scheduling, messaging, assignments and payments. Premium costs from $10.83 a month and Ultra from $13.75 a month, both billed annually. Checked in September 2026.

Can Koach replace TeamSnap?

For coaching a volleyball team, largely yes: calendar, attendance, announcements, lineups, live stats and practices are in one app. Koach does not process payments and has no team chat or live streaming, so if you rely on those you may want to keep TeamSnap alongside it.

Can parents use Koach?

Yes. You invite a parent per player; parent accounts are free and show the dashboard and the team calendar. Player accounts are free too.
