SoloStats alternative: stat depth versus a full team app

Short answer: SoloStats is built to capture and analyse statistics as fast as humanly possible — and nothing beyond that. Koach is a complete team app for volleyball coaches, in which statistics are one part of the whole. Want deep stats with video and season reports? SoloStats is stronger. Want one app for your entire season — planning, attendance, lineups, scoring, development? Then Koach is the more logical choice.

Comparison checked on 5 August 2026 against the public information published by both providers.

We make Koach. So read this as a comparison written by the maker of one of these apps — which is exactly why the sections below spell out where SoloStats does it better, and who SoloStats is simply the better choice for. The official information from SoloStats is at solostatslive.com.

What SoloStats is

SoloStats is a family of volleyball apps from the American company Rotate 123 LLC. It is not a single app but a range: SoloStats Live and SoloStats 123 for capturing statistics live, SoloStats Touch for beach and practice, SoloStats Voice for hands-free entry with your voice (iOS only), SoloStats Clipboard as a digital stat sheet, and SoloStats FAN so parents and spectators can follow along live. Around those sit web tools: SoloStats Coach, WebReports for season reports, SoloStats VIDEO to tie statistics to video footage, and Rotate123 for rotation and lineup planning.

The capture apps are free to download on iOS and Android; the analysis around them sits behind a subscription. The audience SoloStats names itself is club and high school coaches — in practice mostly in the United States. The apps are in English.

What SoloStats does better than Koach

This is not a courtesy paragraph: on statistics SoloStats goes further than Koach, and on a few points Koach simply cannot follow.

Put bluntly: if statistics are your main question, and certainly if you work with video, SoloStats hands you tooling Koach does not have.

What SoloStats does not do

SoloStats is not a team app. In the stats apps themselves there is no team calendar, no attendance tracking, no practice planning with a drill library, no announcements or polls, no carpool schedule for away matches and no parent accounts as part of your team. Practice planning lives in a separate Rotate 123 product (SoloCoach), not in the stats app.

On top of that: everything is in English, which is a real hurdle for a youth or recreational side that does not read English comfortably. And there is no integration with the Dutch Nevobo league, if that is where you play.

Prices side by side

SoloStats has a free tier — unlimited stat capture on one device, without cloud backup and without aggregated reports — with three subscriptions above it: Starter $7.99 a month, Intermediate $10.99 a month and Advanced $16.99 a month, with around 17% off when you pay annually (prices in US dollars, checked on 5 August 2026). Koach costs €2.99 a month for Coach (1 team, 2 coaches) or €9.99 a month for Club (unlimited teams and coaches), with a 14-day free trial without a credit card and roughly 17% off when paid yearly. See what Koach costs.

Holding those amounts against each other is lopsided anyway: with SoloStats you buy analytical depth, with Koach breadth across your whole season. So do not compare the price — compare what it solves for you.

Who SoloStats is the better choice for

Pick SoloStats if statistics are your core question and everything else is arranged elsewhere. Concretely: you are a statistician or a performance-driven coach, you work with match video and want actions tied to footage, you want dozens of analysis reports across a full season, you export data to Excel or MaxPreps, or you coach in the United States where SoloStats is well established and English is no barrier. The same goes if your team already handles planning in another app and you are purely after a stats engine — on that one front SoloStats is stronger than anything Koach offers.

Who Koach is the better choice for

Pick Koach if you want one app for your whole season: lineups with rotations and libero swaps, live scoring with point types per player, practice planning with drills, attendance and playing time, player development with goals and badges, a team calendar, announcements and the carpool schedule — in six languages, with a Nevobo link for teams playing in the Netherlands. And if you would rather not tap through the match at all: you can fill in statistics afterwards too.

One thing you should hear from us honestly: Koach is young. The app has been in the App Store since July 2026, where SoloStats has been running for years with an established user base. Weigh that — and test both with your own team before you decide. More options in the overview of sports team apps and in comparing volleyball apps.

Ask yourself one question. If your problem is "I want to understand more deeply what happened in that match", SoloStats wins. If your problem is "I lose too much time organising my team and I also want numbers", a complete team app wins. They do not rule each other out — some coaches run both.

Frequently asked questions

What does SoloStats cost exactly?

The capture apps are free to download and you can record unlimited statistics on a single device. Cloud backup, multiple devices and analysis need a subscription: Starter $7.99 a month, Intermediate $10.99 a month and Advanced $16.99 a month, with roughly 17% off when paid yearly. Checked on 5 August 2026; prices can change, so check solostatslive.com to be sure.

Which languages is SoloStats available in?

As far as we could establish publicly, English only: the App Store listing names no other language. For a youth or recreational team that does not read English comfortably, that is a genuine hurdle. Koach comes in six languages: Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish.

Which devices does SoloStats run on?

The capture apps are in the App Store and on Google Play; according to the App Store, SoloStats Live also runs on iPad and on Macs with Apple silicon. The analysis side (WebReports, SoloStats VIDEO, Rotate123) is web-based. SoloStats Voice is iOS only. Koach runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser.

Can I use SoloStats and Koach side by side?

Yes, and for some coaches that is the best solution: SoloStats for deep statistics and video analysis, Koach for planning, attendance, lineups and player development. If you would rather have fewer apps, pick the one that covers the largest part of your week.
