SportsEngine alternatives for volleyball: replace it or keep it?
The short answer
SportsEngine is a club platform for online registration and payments, schedules and a team app, and Koach doesn't replace that. Koach Club is the volleyball side alongside it: teams, practices, matches, club duties, match day, bar duties and club email. To replace registration and payments, pick another club platform, such as TeamLinkt, TeamSnap or Pitchero.
You're comparing SportsEngine alternatives because the bill for your club software keeps growing, or because your coaches still use other apps for lineups and matches anyway. Those are two different questions. Here's what club platforms like SportsEngine do and cost, what a volleyball club needs on top of them, and where Koach Club fits and where it doesn't.
SportsEngine alternatives: what SportsEngine does, and what you actually want to replace
We make Koach, so read this as a comparison written by an interested party, and check the other platforms yourself. Everything about SportsEngine, Twizzit and the other systems in this article comes from their own websites and the App Store, checked in October 2026.
SportsEngine is an American platform that says it serves more than 45,000 organisations. It covers online registration and payments, schedules and a team app, and with SportsEngine AES it runs a platform for volleyball competitions and tournaments. For a club that wants sign-ups, payments and the season calendar in one place, that's a strong package.
If you're shopping for an alternative, you usually want one of these four things to change:
- Membership admin and money. The member list, fees, invoices and registration forms. For that you need another club management platform, and Koach isn't one. Which kind of system suits your club is covered in choosing membership software for a club.
- Your coaches' work. The lineup, live scoring, practices with drills and who showed up. That's what a volleyball app is built for.
- The jobs around match day. Who referees, who keeps score, who works the bar, and who has already done their club duties.
- The cost. Twizzit, for example, charges per member per year. The next section shows how that adds up.
If your club is in the US or the UK and you want to swap SportsEngine for another club platform, these three are worth a look. According to its pricing page, TeamLinkt offers registration, payments, scheduling, a website and a team app, with a free base plan. TeamSnap's pricing page lists registrations and payments for clubs and leagues, with customised pricing. In the UK, Pitchero combines a club website and app with member registration and online payments. What each of them means for a volleyball team is in our TeamLinkt comparison and the Pitchero alternative. The rest of this article is about the volleyball side, with Twizzit as a price example and the platforms clubs use in other countries.
What does club management software cost? The Twizzit example
Twizzit is a Belgian platform for Dutch- and French-speaking clubs, so it is not a SportsEngine replacement for a US or UK club. We use it here because it publishes its full price list, which shows how per-member pricing adds up; check SportsEngine's own pricing for your club. Twizzit serves clubs, associations and federations. Its website lists membership management, invoicing and online payments, registrations and forms, activities and attendance, volunteers, a web shop and its own app with push notifications, and it says more than 5,500 organisations use it.
According to Twizzit's pricing page (checked on 4 October 2026), you pay per member per year, excluding VAT: €3.75 for SMASH, €4.75 for HATTRICK and €5.50 for HOMERUN. Every plan charges for at least 100 members, and a member is anyone who was affiliated with the club, or paid an affiliation fee, in the past twelve months. On top of that comes a one-off guided onboarding of €195 excluding VAT, with three hours of personal support. These rates apply to a three-year contract; a one-year contract costs 10% more. Online payments cost a one-off €49, plus €0.30 and 0.75% of the amount per payment, both excluding VAT.
Look closely at what sits in which plan. Membership management, the calendar, volunteer management and task allocation, the club app, news posts and attendance are in all three. HATTRICK adds chat, the newsletter, online payments and registrations, ticketing and the web shop. Invoicing is only in HOMERUN. At the minimum of 100 members, SMASH costs €375 a year, HATTRICK €475 and HOMERUN €550, plus the one-off €195. Whichever platform you compare SportsEngine with, ask each one the same three questions: who counts as a member, what is the minimum, and which features only come with the more expensive plans.
What club management software doesn't give your coaches
Lineups, rotations, live scoring per player and a practice plan with drills don't appear in Twizzit's comparison table. That's not a criticism: club software is built around who is a member and what needs paying, for every sport at once.
A volleyball coach has different questions in a normal week. Who plays in which rotation on Saturday, who has dropped out, which drills am I running on Tuesday, and who scored the points last week? For that a coach needs an app that knows the 5-1, the 4-2 and the libero. What to look for as a coach is in the checklist for a volleyball coaching app. If every coach picks an app of their own, the board loses sight of what happens in the teams. That's the gap Koach Club fills. Which system is meant for what is explained in taking your club digital.
Koach Club alongside your club management software
Koach is an app for volleyball coaches, on iPhone, iPad, Android and in the browser. The Club plan adds the Club dashboard, which you open from your profile. It has the tabs Overview, Members, Team selection, Club duties, Match day, Venues, Organisation, Contributions, Email, Team log and Admins. Here's what that adds next to a club platform:
- Teams and practices. Every coach works in their own team with lineups, live scoring, practices built from 200+ animated drills and attendance per practice. The Club dashboard brings all the teams together, with their players and their turnout.
- Club duties. With Set up club duties you decide how many shifts each member owes per season, and Koach keeps count of who has done theirs. How that works is explained in tracking volunteer duties in your club.
- Match day and bar duties. For every home match you fill the Referee, Scorer and Hall duty slots, and Assign automatically gives the open slots to whoever has had the fewest turns. Generate a year of bar duties gives every home match of the club a bar shift, shared fairly among members aged 16 and over and parents of younger players from the other teams.
- Contributions. You keep track of who owes what, with Open, Paid or Waived on each line and your own payment link per contribution. Koach doesn't process any money itself; see tracking membership fees without accounting software.
- Club email. Under Email you send a message to all members or to one group, from your own domain. Members without a Koach account don't receive it; see emailing every member of your club.
We set up Koach Club together with you. Use the form to tell us how your club is organised and which club platform you use. If you coach one team yourself, you can try Koach with that team free for 14 days.
Book an intro call Start with your own teamOn top of that, the board or the technical manager can read back the latest practices of each team in the Team log: attendance, how much of the plan got done, the coach's report and notes on players. At the top it shows how many teams need attention, for example because a practice has no report or plan, or because a player has been absent three times in a row. Signals like these come out of the coaches' own work, so they only exist in a system the coaches actually work in.
Twizzit and Koach Club side by side
Checked on 4 October 2026 on twizzit.com and Twizzit's pricing page. Twizzit publishes what is in each plan, so here it stands in for a club platform. Put the same rows next to SportsEngine, or any other platform you're weighing up.

The two overlap on the app, attendance and sharing out duties. If that's mainly what you use your club platform for, Koach Club covers that part too; the membership admin itself stays where it is. Koach doesn't import a member list either: members come in when coaches add players to their team and invite them.
Clubee: another all-in-one club platform
Another platform clubs come across is Clubee, a single platform for federations, clubs and members, covering admin, competitions, finances and communication. According to Clubee's App Store page, members see news, the calendar, their availability, memberships and results there, and admins handle communication and payments. The app only works if your organisation already uses Clubee. The story is the same as with Twizzit: a strong platform for the club as an organisation, and the open question of where your coaches keep their lineups and practices.
The same pattern in other countries
Every country has its own platforms for running the club as an organisation, usually for many sports at once. The division of roles is much the same everywhere: the platform handles members and money, and the question remains where the coaches keep their volleyball.
- Vereinsplaner says more than 15,000 clubs in Germany, Austria and Switzerland use it: membership management, fees with SEPA direct debit files, a calendar where members confirm or decline, and attendance at practice. Vereinsplaner's Free plan stays free, with five accounts.
- Clupik from Spain builds a club's own website and app for clubs and federations, with registrations, payments and licences, and says it works with more than 3,000 clubs and federations in more than 25 countries. Clupik also builds apps for Spanish volleyball federations.
- Golee from Italy describes its app as help with running a sports club day to day: membership admin, the sporting side and the finances.
- ProTrainUp from Poland goes further towards the coach: besides collecting fees it has practice diagrams and animations, a drill library and an app for players, and it lists volleyball among its sports. The smallest club plan, Club Pro for 5 coaches and 100 players, costs 125 złoty per month including VAT according to ProTrainUp's pricing page.
- Sportlyzer from Estonia has a coach app with schedules, availability, attendance and messages by email or text, in twelve languages.
Next to most of these platforms, Koach Club covers a different part of the club. With ProTrainUp and Sportlyzer the overlap is bigger, because they serve the coach too; there the real question is whether you want an app built for volleyball.
Who Koach Club is for, and who it isn't
It fits a volleyball club that keeps its membership admin where it is, in SportsEngine or another platform, and wants to give its coaches one app for teams, practices and matches, with a board that can follow along. It also fits a club that mainly uses its club platform for the app and attendance and already handles invoicing somewhere else.
It doesn't fit if you're looking for a replacement for membership management, invoices, fee collection, registration forms, player licences or a web shop: Koach doesn't do that, and Koach doesn't replace your membership admin. A club that has to work in French, for example in Canada, should also know that Koach has no French. And Koach is made for indoor volleyball; for beach volleyball or other sports it won't do much for you.
Club costs €9.99 per month, or €8.33 per month on a yearly plan, for unlimited teams and coaches. Players and parents use Koach for free. Club has no free trial: use the form on the clubs page to book an intro call, and we set up the club together with you. Coach, for one team, costs €2.99 per month and you can try it free for 14 days. In the App Store and on Google Play you see the price in your own currency. All prices are on the pricing page, and what a club app means for the whole club is covered in an app for your volleyball club.
Agree which system is the source for what. Let your club platform stay the source for names, addresses and fees, and Koach the source for teams, practices and duties. Write down in one short list what happens when someone leaves, so they disappear from both systems and don't get an invoice from one while they're already off their team in the other.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good alternative to SportsEngine?
That depends on what you want to replace. For registration, payments and membership admin you need another club platform. For a club in the US, TeamLinkt offers registration, payments, scheduling, a website and a team app, with a free base plan (see our TeamLinkt comparison), and TeamSnap lists registrations and payments for clubs and leagues; for a club in the UK, Pitchero combines a club website with online payments. Elsewhere, this article looks at Twizzit, Clubee, Vereinsplaner, Clupik, Golee, ProTrainUp and Sportlyzer. For the volleyball side, such as lineups, live scoring, practices and match-day duties, Koach Club runs alongside the platform you keep.
Is Koach an alternative to SportsEngine?
Partly. Koach doesn't do membership management, invoicing, online payments, registrations or a web shop; for that you need SportsEngine or another club platform. Koach Club takes care of the volleyball side of the club: teams, practices, matches, attendance, club duties, match day, bar duties and club email. So think of it as something next to your membership admin. If you mainly use your club platform for the app and attendance, Koach Club covers that part too, but you keep the member list itself in a club management platform.
How much does club management software cost for a club with 150 members?
Take Twizzit, which publishes its prices. According to its pricing page, checked in October 2026, you pay per member per year, excluding VAT, €3.75 (SMASH), €4.75 (HATTRICK) or €5.50 (HOMERUN), with a minimum of 100 members. For 150 members that comes to €562.50, €712.50 or €825 a year, plus a one-off €195 excluding VAT for onboarding. Those rates apply to a three-year contract; for one year you pay 10% more, according to the same page. Online payments are included from HATTRICK and invoicing only in HOMERUN, and online payments also cost a fee per transaction. For SportsEngine, check its own pricing for your club.
Can I import my member list from SportsEngine into Koach?
No. Koach has no import for members or players, not from Excel or a CSV file either. Members get into Koach when coaches add their players to their team and invite them with a link; players and parents use the app for free. The Club dashboard then shows all teams with their players. Your club platform stays the place for addresses, fees and registrations.
How much does Koach Club cost, and is there a free trial?
Koach Club costs €9.99 per month, or €8.33 per month on a yearly plan, for unlimited teams and coaches. Players and parents pay nothing. Club has no free trial: use the form on the clubs page to book an intro call, and we set up the club together with you. If you coach one team yourself, you can try Koach free for 14 days first, no credit card needed, and after that Coach costs €2.99 per month.
Does Koach work in Spanish or French?
Spanish yes, French no. Koach works in English, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish, and everyone picks the language of their own app. A Spanish-speaking parent can use Koach in Spanish; a French-speaking coach or parent can pick English, but not French. For a club that has to offer everything in French as well, for example in Canada, that's a reason to try it with one or two teams before you move the whole club over.
