Every playing-time policy stands or falls with one thing: knowing how much everyone áctually plays. But tallying who was on court when is something no coach keeps up for a season. So Koach now measures it itself: in every live-scored match, the playing-time fairness meter automatically tracks court time per player — and the season overview puts whoever played least on top.
How does Koach measure playing time?
Automatically, as a by-product of live scoring. Because Koach already follows your lineup and the rotation during the match, the app knows at any moment exactly who is on court. From that data the fairness meter calculates court time per player: the number of rallies they were on court for and the sets they played in. Substitutions count automatically — whoever comes on in set three starts accumulating court time from that moment. You do nothing extra: no stopwatch, no tally sheet, no separate bookkeeping.
Per match: the Playing time section
In the match detail of every live-scored match you will find the Playing time section: one bar per player showing what share of the match they were on court. You see straight away what you may not have noticed in the heat of the game — that your regular six played almost everything, or that the set-four substitute only got a handful of rallies. Useful for the review, and fair towards the players: the bar is the same measuring stick for everyone.
Per season: who should start first?
The single match is a snapshot; the pattern over weeks is what matters. That is what the Playing time this season card in the Team tab is for: all players in a row, with whoever played the léast on top. Those players get a start first? chip — the gentle nudge you need on a Thursday evening. One glance at the card and you know who deserves to be in the starting six next week. Fair distribution stops being a good intention that fades and becomes a habit the app guards for you.
Transparent for players and parents
Playing time is not visible to you alone: players — and through them their parents — see the distribution in the app too. That may feel daunting, but it is actually disarming: the question "why does my child play so little?" turns from an accusation into a conversation about facts you both see. Especially in youth teams, where generous playing time for everyone should be the starting point, that openness takes the sting out of the most sensitive topic on the sideline.
From measuring to distributing fairly
The meter tells you how things áre; how they should be is up to you.
